Analyst


We’re looking for a highly analytical and curious thinker to support workforce intelligence, insights, and evidence-based decision making across the Electrotechnology, Information Technology and Creative ISB. This role strengthens the ISB’s ability to provide high-quality workforce advice and sector insights within the vocational education system.

  • Analyse workforce data to identify trends, gaps, and emerging skill needs
  • Develop insights that inform workforce planning, qualifications, and investment advice
  • Support evidence-based decision making across industry, government, and education stakeholders
  • Design outward-facing storytelling infographics and insight reports

About the role

You’ll collect, analyse, and interpret labour market and workforce data to build a clear picture of current and future skill needs across the sectors we cover.

You’ll translate complex datasets into clear insights, narratives, reports, and design visualisations that inform the ISB’s strategic advice, industry engagement, and planning activities.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across industry, government, and the wider VET system, contributing to a strong evidence base that supports better outcomes for learners and employers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Collect and analyse labour market and workforce data from a range of sources
  • Develop workforce forecasts, sector profiles, and insights
  • Build dashboards and visualisations to communicate data clearly
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and presentations for a range of audiences
  • Engage with industry, government, and education stakeholders to understand data needs
  • Contribute to cross-ISB insights and intelligence collaboration
  • Support continuous improvement of data systems, reporting, and analytics capability
  • Develop visualisations and data-centric narratives

What you’ll bring

  • Experience analysing and interpreting data to generate insights
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to present complex information clearly
  • Proficiency in Excel and confidence working with datasets
  • Good relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Strong planning and organisational capability
  • An enquiring mindset and ability to work in an evolving environment
  • Understanding of, or willingness to build knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

Desirable:

  • Experience in workforce analysis, labour market research, or similar fields
  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualisation tools
  • Knowledge of Electrotechnology, IT, Creative, or vocational education sectors
