Te Āhua o Te Tūranga – The nature of the position
About the Role
As an Engagement Manager, you’ll be the key connector between ETITC ISB and the industries we support. As a external-facing representative of and industry-led organisation, you’ll build trusted relationships with employers, employees, industry bodies, unions, and stakeholders to understand workforce needs and gather insights that drive meaningful action.
You’ll also maintain strong connections with wānanga, and training providers, to support qualifications, delivery models, and future skill development.
In this outward-facing role, you’ll represent ETITC ISB at events, hui, and forums, provide strategic industry intelligence, and help facilitate Industry Advisory Groups (IAGs). You’ll also collaborate with Engagement peers across the wider ISB network to share insights and align approaches.

Ngā tino Pūkenga/Whēako – Skills/experience for the role
You will bring:
- Strong relationship-building skills and confidence engaging a wide range of stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills — written, verbal, facilitation, and presentation
- Experience managing a varied engagement portfolio across multiple workstreams
- Ability to gather, interpret, and communicate insights clearly and constructively
- Strong facilitation skills and confidence presenting to senior audiences
- Curiosity, adaptability, and a collaborative approach, especially to work across a broad range of sectors
- Understanding of, or commitment to developing knowledge of, Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Knowledge of, or ability to learn, the vocational education and training system
It’s a bonus if you have:
- Existing relationships within electrotechnology, IT, or creative sectors
- Experience using CRM systems and digital engagement tools
- Knowledge of workforce planning, training delivery, or qualifications development
- Experience working with government agencies, advisory groups, or similar environments
