Qualifications Specialist


About the role

Lead the design and development of vocational qualifications that shape the capability of Aotearoa’s education, health, disability, aged care, social services, and community workforces. This senior role suits someone who enjoys complex project leadership, industry engagement, and translating sector needs into clear, future‑focused qualification products.

 

What you’ll do

  • Lead complex qualification projects using robust methodologies including needs analysis, drafting, validation, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure qualification content reflects current and emerging practice, workforce capability needs, and regulatory settings.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and technical advisory groups across the Education, Health & Community sectors.
  • Build strong relationships with employers, industry bodies, providers, government agencies, and regulators.
  • Mentor Qualification Advisors and support capability building across the team.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Engagement, and Workforce Strategy teams to ensure system alignment.

 

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in qualification development, curriculum design, instructional design, or similar roles in VET, education, health, or community services.
  • Strong understanding of the NZ vocational education system, qualification frameworks, and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent written communication and the ability to produce clear, structured, technically accurate documentation.
  • Confident facilitation skills and the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate complex industry needs into coherent qualification structures.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, Teams, SharePoint.
  • Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable outcomes for Māori, Pacific, and priority learners.
