Services Industry Skills Board (Services ISB) is seeking a highly skilled and forward-thinking Senior Insights Analyst to lead workforce and vocational education intelligence across the services sector. About the Role
Reporting to the Head of System Performance & Improvement, you'll lead the collection, analysis and interpretation of workforce and tertiary education data to provide evidence-based insights that inform strategic priorities and policy advice.
This is a senior role requiring both technical expertise and strategic influence. You'll work closely with senior leaders, government agencies, industry stakeholders and peer organisations to create intelligence products that support workforce planning, vocational education outcomes and investment decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading workforce, labour market and vocational education analysis
- Delivering high-quality insights, reports, dashboards and strategic recommendations
- Developing and enhancing analytical methodologies and reporting frameworks
- Providing evidence-based advice to senior leaders and key stakeholders
- Leading complex analytical projects from conception to delivery
- Building organisational analytics capability through coaching and mentoring
- Collaborating with government agencies, data providers and other Industry Skills Boards to strengthen workforce intelligence across the sector.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for an experienced insights professional who can confidently move between technical analysis and strategic conversations.
Ideally, you'll have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in economics, statistics, business, social sciences or a related discipline
- Significant experience leading complex analytical projects and delivering strategic insights
- Advanced capability with Power BI, Excel and data visualisation tools
- Strong quantitative analysis, modelling and data interpretation skills
- The ability to communicate complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience influencing decision-making at senior leadership level
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Strong project management capabilities and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- An understanding of, or commitment to developing knowledge of, Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Desirable experience:
- Labour market analysis or workforce planning
- Vocational education and training sector knowledge
- Experience working with Stats NZ, Infometrics, IDI or other large datasets
- Experience developing reporting and data product specifications.
